HEALING THROUGH MAKING WITH BERNICE MELUNGA & JUNE BELLEBONO
02.10.2022
A workshop for trans and non-binary Black people and people of colour to process their grief through the creation of zines, devised by Bernice Melunga & June Bellebono
In response to the current climate of transphobia and racism in society, and the multiple losses we have faced in the community in the last few years, this is a space to discuss feelings of both personal and communal grief we're experiencing, and react creatively in response to them.
Participants are invited to bring in a piece of art or writing they associate with grief to share with the wider group (if they feel comfortable to) and this'll lead an initial conversation on the topic.
This'll be followed by a zinemaking session, where we'll be using collage, writing, art and other creative forms to create a zine which may be honouring a lost one or be used as an introspective tool for your grief, or for celebrating members of the community no longer with us.
Supported by the Majonzi Fund as Part of QUEERCIRCLE’s exploratory research programme into the potentials of queer creative health.
