Real to Reel - a reference to bell hooks’ seminal Reel to Real - brings together 10 groups, platforms and organisations working with film, video and new media. Each of the groups have been invited to contribute to the public programme without a brief. Instead, we are collectively exploring what is possible when sharing space and resources. Together we will discuss what infrastructure may be needed in the future to better support our communities - both artists and groups alike.
Some screenings are supported by a series of panels and workshops. Some will be accompanied by the artists, whilst others will discuss collective ways of filmmaking: from production to distribution to archiving, and imagine future proposals for a queer community cinema.
