  • Real to Reel - a reference to bell hooks’ seminal Reel to Real - brings together 10 groups, platforms and organisations working with film, video and new media. Each of the groups have been invited to contribute to the public programme without a brief. Instead, we are collectively exploring what is possible when sharing space and resources. Together we will discuss what infrastructure may be needed in the future to better support our communities - both artists and groups alike.

Some screenings are supported by a series of panels and workshops. Some will be accompanied by the artists, whilst others will discuss collective ways of filmmaking: from production to distribution to archiving, and imagine future proposals for a queer community cinema.

  • Residency

    Residency

Otherness Archive will undertake a residency at QUEERCIRCLE, with a particular focus on organisational development. During this time they will also explore Cinenova’s catalogue to seek out further video and films for their growing online archive. This will culminate in three events at the end of March to mark Trans Day of Visibility.

Otherness Archive is an accessible online-based archive, that gathers together on one platform with work by and for the trans and queer community. The moving image archive combines pioneering contemporary audiovisual works with their pre-existing counterparts, creating a space where past, present and future coexist in a joint mission to showcase and preserve work representative of the trans and queer experience.
