We believe in the radical potential of the arts for individual, collective and societal transformation. Specifically, communities need us to be explicit about our politics; and to deliver a programme that supports and empowers them in theirs. To realise this potential, we believe the sector needs long-term structural change.
We take a critical and ethical approach to fundraising to avoid any form of pinkwashing and have declined sponsorship from several global corporations for this reason. Our Ethical Fundraising Policy can be found here.
At present, we are fortunate that approximately 70% of our costs are covered by funders, trusts and foundations who share these values.
Our ambition is to create a people powered institution and raise the remaining 30% with the support of our communities and allies.
We know this will take time so we are starting with a humble target of recruiting 200 people who can donate one hour’s wage per month. Over the course of a year, this would generate £12,000 - enough to cover an entire season of programming.
Join us! Donate £5 per month – or whatever you can afford – today.
